In June 2000, I was invited to the United States to create the iconostasis in the newly built St. Seraphim Cathedral by the late Archbishop of Dallas +Dmitri (Roister). After completing all the icons in 2001, I was asked to continue decorating the church with murals on all the walls and ceilings, which I completed in 2009. Though this was my first project in the United States, this work offered me a unique opportunity to design and execute a comprehensive system of wall decoration in close creative collaboration with Archbishop + Dmitri. It would have been quite difficult to design authentic orthodox murals for this interior, which lacks the elements and feeling of a traditional church, without the creative freedom and pastoral care which was granted to me by Vladika Dmitri. All murals were executed directly on the wall from built scaffolding, using modified acrylic paints.
