St. Gregory Palamas Monastery (GOA)

The mural project at St. Gregory Palamas Monastery began in 2020, as soon as the new church building was completed. This beautiful structure, designed by Andrew Gould, blends perfectly with the Ohio countryside while still keeping a distinct Orthodox appearance. The interior was plastered with lime plaster, creating an authentic byzantine look. However, the rough texture of lime plaster does not allow for the use of of acrylic paints or contemporary marouflage methods of application. After several productive discussions with the monastic Brotherhood, the unique compositional schema of complete mural decorations was created and executed directly on walls of the church using KEIM© silicate paints. This is ongoing project, which should be completed in the coming years.
